But the life of man is also a gift of God, which is to be defended by everyone, who is able to do it, because life is given to him to the maturing of the soul and for that reason it is not allowed to be given up carelessly. Read more:

"Thou shalt not kill."

6. January 1955 B.D. NR. 6156.

Who are clever in the world, are not always so, when it is the time, to instruct other men in the divine-spiritual. There is a difference, how world-men judge and how God judges, and mostly worldly cleverness will judge so, as it is of use for world-men. But whether this is also according to divine will, that they do not consider. It can never be in the will of God, that the powerful rises over the powerless, that it oppresses the weak and robs it of its freedom. God has created all men with the same rights and never ever given the strong the right, to abuse his strength in such a way, that he subjugates the weak. But the will of men is free, and the effect of a bad will God can and will again so direct, that it brings about blessing to the affected - so that therefore in the end also detestable acts can have an educational effect and promote a maturing of the soul - but as they can also produce negative success, when the will of the affected weak men is likewise bad. Thou shalt not kill. This command was given to you, and you are to observe it any time. But each one man also has the duty - to follow this same command - to protect life - therefore also the right, to defend himself or the life of others, because there will always be men, who sin against God's commands, who abuse their strength, who do not keep human rights and obviously comply with the wishes of him, who himself stands facing God as enemy. It is not God's will, that it is repaid eye for eye, tooth for tooth, that man might retort bad with bad. For all hate is to be combated, and man is to also forgive the enemy, when he himself requests forgiveness from God. But the life of man is also a gift of God, which is to be defended by everyone, who is able to do it, because life is given to him to the maturing of the soul and for that reason it is not allowed to be given up carelessly. He is allowed to protect his own life - he is therefore not called to account in the case of self-defence - but he is called to account, when he does not protect the life of others, which he could protect. For then he is responsible for their death in exactly the same way, as if he himself had killed him, for the command "Thou shalt not kill" also includes the care for the life of the neighbour; it is simply a command of neighbourly love, which must be fulfilled - always provided that man is enabled to protect the life of the neighbour. But in the world the terms have become confused. Hunger for power, political interests, hostilities and lack of love have created laws, which reverse the divine order. Divine commands remain unnoticed; false concepts of honour have been bred into man; everything is outside of the divine order, and the mutual thought of extermination or weakening is found everywhere, but hides under the cloak of justice. Laws enacted by men force to disregard of the divine command - and the life of the neighbour is holy for no man. They submit to unjustified demands, partly forced, partly voluntarily; they treat both their own life carelessly and also the life of the neighbour - they bring themselves carelessly into danger and play with the life of others. They do not know the value of the life for the soul. And for that reason they are also prepared to crusade against fellowmen and for them it is all not just about the defence of human life, but also about the reaching of other aims, which are always earthly-materially and for that reason cannot be divinely wanted. The thought of a defence of valuable life is found with only very few - the thought of earthly advantages or favourable effects on the other hand predominant. And the command "Thou shalt not kill- " is rejected without hesitation or also only given for the purpose of the achieving of other aims. But this command remains as divine word: Thou shalt not kill. And who ends the life of another man in free will, without own or another's danger, he violates this command, and he will have to take responsibility for it. And God will judge according to law and justice.
Amen. B.D. NR. 6156.
