The centre of our Milky Way is covered by veils of gas and dust. Read more:

Today I read something about the starry sky in September and here excerpts from it:

In the centre of our Milky Way, in the middle of a gigantic gas nebula, lies the Pistol Star its mass is 150 times as large as that of the Sun.

At clear nights the stars of Sagittarius now sparkle in the south. In the direction of this picture, about 25000 light years distance from Earth, lies the centre of our Milky Way, covered by veils of gas and dust. Only with a trick astronomers succeed to elicit its secrets: They do not observe in visible light but use radiation which is able to penetrate the clouds radio waves for instance or infrared. So the researchers found out that a gigantic black hole lurks in the centre of the Milky Way.

All kinds of star giants live there. One noticeable specimen possesses the two million fold illuminating power and the 150 fold mass of our Sun. The infrared eye of the space telescope Hubble has discovered the record suspicious object. It sits in the middle of an about four light years large gas nebula in whose interior the giant sun shines. The astronomers baptized it the Pistol Star.
