Today, on the 10th of May 2010, I read the following two news items and they caused me think a little bid about them. More after the two news items.
Moscow. Russia celebrates the day of victory. The military parade for the 65th annual day of victory over Hitler Germany started on the Red Square in Moscow on Sunday morning. Among the guests of honour on the reviewing stand: Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Russia celebrates, Merkel marches along.
65 Years ago the end of World War II happened, at least in Europe. As I now read today that Mrs Merkel marched along in Moscow, I thought of my entry "2010 April 23 (2) - The defence situation of the West."
There are indications that the governments of at least three countries are aware of the situation, which the change of government in Washington in the year 2009 has brought with it.
One is the country Israel; it seems to consciously let itself in for a fight with Washington. It seems to prepare its people to also be able to live without the USA or to even act against its wishes.
Also in Poland there could be something like it and now also in Germany something like it could develop.
The Federal Republic of Germany had at the time of its emergent refrained from being completely armed and is since then a third class military power, which voluntarily did without sufficient defence and even without acting preventive.
The situation was compensated for by Germany becoming a member of Nato. Until 1990 the potential attacker was directly at the doorstep.
Poland always wanted to belong to the West. Some Poles even thought Poland would be in good hands as one of the federal states of the United States. The trust Poland had in the West was often disappointed. Then finally Poland got rid of the suppression through the neighbour state and even became a member of Nato. And now even American troops are there.
And now many become slowly aware, like Israel, that the USA could potentially be the worst enemy.
And there the three countries Israel, Poland and Germany are more or less in the same situation.
The main difference is only that Israel is a sovereign country, while Poland and Germany are not like this in the same measure, especially not military wise. Both depend for their defence on others, especially in the nuclear one. France for example, may not want to have an aggressive power in Germany, and could therefore defend Germany against such one. But such a defence of the neighbourly country could also threaten its own existence and is therefore always questionable.
Germany has excellent relationships with its neighbour France but that might not be enough in certain situations.
May be Mrs Merkel is very much aware of the situation and tries to undertake the best for her country. And to put out feelers towards Moscow and to eventually consider a marching along there, seems to be appropriate.
There are now presidential elections in Poland as the former president got killed on 10th April 2010 in an air crash - one month ago. His brother, the former prime minister, stands apparently for the office. The demonstration in Warsaw - which happened yesterday - seems to express the concern about a still lasting dependence from Moscow. But may be there are already considerations among the leaders of the country, on the side of government and also on the side of the opposition, which go further and allow for the new situation.
It will be interesting to observe whether individual leaders or individual governments will be able to keep out of the sphere of influence of Antichrist.
