Some have seen the event as deeply significant — the tetrad could be a sign from God, some Christian pastors have said, and may even be a message that judgment is coming.

Pastor John Hagee is of the firm conviction, the blood moon at the Easter weekend is a sign that something dramatic is happening and the world changes. Read more:

I bring extracts from articles.

In Joel 2:31 it says:

The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come.

Now follow extracts from articles:

The darkest part of Earth's shadow will fall across the lunar surface, producing a "blood moon"

A total lunar eclipse will rise on April 4, 2015, but totality will only last for a very short amount of time.

This lunar eclipse will be the third of four eclipses in a lunar eclipse tetrad. The first occurred in April 2014, with the second rising in September 2014. The final lunar eclipse in the tetrad will happen on Sept. 28, according to NASA.

Lunar eclipses occur when the moon dips into Earth's shadow, casting an occasionally spooky glow on the natural satellite. A partial phase of an eclipse happens when the moon passes through the outer part of Earth's shadow, but total lunar eclipses happen only when the darkest part of the planet's shadow falls across the lunar surface.

"During the eclipse, the moon often looks reddish because sunlight has passed through Earth's atmosphere, which filters out most of its blue light," NASA officials said in a statement. "This eerie, harmless effect has earned the tongue-in-cheek nickname 'blood moon.'"

Fascinating natural spectacle: Preacher certain: Red blood moon at Easter is a sign of God

At Eastern a sky spectacle will be observable for a few minutes: Then the moon colours itself blood red. While scientists have a simple explanation for it, an US preacher is certain: This phenomenon was predicted in the Bible.

A copper red moon and a blood red sky – there will be fascinating things at Easter week end. A total moon eclipse is behind this phenomenon on the 4th of April. The moon stands completely in the shadow of the earth, but is not completely dark. The earth atmosphere diverts some sun light into the shade and colours the moon copper red, similar as with sunset. In Germany one merely sees the moon disappearing shortly. Such a blood moon is still visible at the end of the year, then no longer for a long time. Just a natural phenomenon? A pastor from the USA is of different opinion. John Hagee sees the red moon at Easter as sign of God. He claims that this worldwide phenomenon at Easter was already predicted in the Bible. There stands: "The sun stands in darkness and the moon in blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes". Pastor John Hagee is of the firm conviction, the blood moon at the Easter weekend is a sign that something dramatic is happening and the world changes. Soberly observed it remains a normal natural spectacle.

Lunar eclipse: Earth to block out the sun and turn the moon red this weekend

Early Saturday morning, the Earth will move between the moon and the sun, completing one of the shortest lunar eclipses in recent history.

The eclipse is the third in a tetrad of lunar eclipses, made up of four in a series that began in April last year and will end in September. As such, some have seen the event as deeply significant — the tetrad could be a sign from God, some Christian pastors have said, and may even be a message that judgment is coming.

But for most of the people that see the eclipse, it will be at least initially visible by making the moon turn a deep red. The red colour comes from Rayleigh scattering — which also accounts for the deep red of sunsets and is caused by the way light is scattered as it travels through space. The colouring sometimes leads to lunar eclipses being called a “blood moon”.

The redness will be most visible towards the bottom of the moon, which will be closest to the shadow cast by the Earth.

The event will begin at about 3.16am pacific time on Saturday morning in the local time zone, or 6.16pm on Friday evening UK time. It will continue for an hour and 45 minutes, but it is in the middle of that time that the eclipse will be total.

These were the quotes from articles and now follow several Scriptures that relate to the moon and the day of Lord.

The first is Isaiah 13:9-13:

Isa 13:9 Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.
Isa 13:10 For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.
Isa 13:11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.
Isa 13:12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.
Isa 13:13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

The next is Matthew 24:29-31:

Mat 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Mat 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Mat 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

The next is Mark 13:24-27:

Mar 13:24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
Mar 13:25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.
Mar 13:26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
Mar 13:27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

The next is luke 21:25:

Luk 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

The next is Revelation 6: 12-17:

Rev 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
Rev 6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
Rev 6:14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
Rev 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
Rev 6:16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:
Rev 6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
