When neurology scientists deny that man has free will: There is no more stupid theory than denying man his very own quality that he can consciously form his own life. Read more:

Here something from today:

Computer science professor: “Preservation of the species is not the meaning of life”

Computer science professor Eckhard Kruse: his book 'Der Geist in der Materie - Die Begegnung von Wissenschaft und Spiritualität' (Spirit in matter – Meeting of science and spirituality).

Also today the findings of modern research of ideas are no longer met only with rejection by natural scientists. The Heidelberger Eckhard Kruse – since 2008 professor for applied computer science at the Dual Hochschule Baden-Württemberg in Mannheim – succeeded in his book “Der Geist in der Materie” with a convincing synthesis of science and spirituality. One of the ideas: The brain is not the central computer unit, but an internet browser. And on the other side of daily consciousness there is a fullness of different states of consciousness.

Professor Kruse, what drives a computer scientist to look for spiritual?
In the end it is experiences I made; for example with self-experience seminars like family establishment. Or with meditation. There are phenomena which do not fit in with the world-view, which one has as orthodox scientist. Also a thought-transference experience with my wife belongs to this. I then tried to approach the matter systematically. There are a lot of books about thought-transference, telepathy, clairvoyance. Even the American secret service has done research there in the area of espionage. Not everything there is of course to be taken seriously.

With telepathy and clairvoyance, isn’t there much coincidence?
That might be the case in many situations, but that is not always so. Coincidence is no explanation for things, which occur frequently. There are studies, which proof relevant effects.

You also do not think much when neurology scientists deny that man has free will.
There is no more stupid theory than denying man his very own quality that he can consciously form his own life. When these scientists would take their theory seriously then they also would have no longer to take care of their families and could remain in bed in the morning. It is almost a fad of scientists that they describe the world very soberly, suit it to matter. “God” is already completely unacceptable, and what could give life a meaning is denied. The only meaning is then the preservation of the species.

Human behaviour can’t then be explained with egoism and preservation of the species?
There are also many physicists who ask for higher principles. Earlier it was the role of religion to link man to the entire whole thing and to determine his behaviour. That has broken away since enlightenment. But we have thrown out the baby with the bathwater. Science does not feel responsible for questions of meaning and moral. Today there are no longer authorities for this.

What does this mean for our living together?
We men as social beings need the thought of community; we are connected on higher level. Buddhism for example says when I harm somebody, I harm myself. That it is what religions confess; but what is no longer very present in society. Upon what are social norms then based?

In your book you develop the idea of participating, loving men, to solve the problems in presence and future.
Men who treat others kindly have other possibilities to form the world than science tells us.

What then is the meaning of life?
From my personal view there is a fundamental feature: Development. What is living wins complexity, and that is in exchange with other beings. Related to man: It is a question of consciousness, how I approach the world. Openness, acknowledgment of being different, appreciation of multiplicity are signs of liveliness.

In today’s world we feel bound to fill children with enthusiasm for science and technique to secure their future. Also this you see differently.
At the moment we have a considerable imbalance of natural science and the arts. Consciousness and culture have strongly moved into the background. But the meaning of life does not come via material things. So we have to change the own attitude towards the world, for example in such a way that we do not experience less consumption as lack. That can be even reproduced scientifically. We therefore can achieve inner calmness – without consumption of resources.
