I bring here the 184th Chapter from the 1st Volume of Jakob Lorber’s work Die Haushaltung Gottes (The household of God), jl.hag1.184.
And because we are dealing here with time, here also the time when this information was given to Jakob Lorber: 5th of January 1842.
And now the 184th Chapter:
After this endless most lovely assurance on the part of Abedam to Ghemela, through which also great courage returned into her, she completely calmed down in her heart. Her chest breathed again completely free, and she now soon made use of her wish and gave the following question out of her heart, which also belongs into the row of her rare, well-behaved uncommon questions. But this second rare question was the following:
»Most loving, my alone loved, holy above everything, almighty Jehovah! Because you therefore have already condescended so unspeakably deep to us so poor sinners and have allowed me to ask, would it perhaps be pleasing to you to help up my foolishness in it?
See, hundred and thousand times I have heard the word ‘eternal’ and ‘eternity’ and spoken out myself not less often; but, certainly and true, I still never understood it!
Oh Jehovah, when it would be your holy will, - I would very much like to hear such!«
But Abedam soon answered her question sufficiently and comprehensibly for all, by him saying:
»Hear, my beloved Ghemela, what eternity out of me actually is, such you could certainly never grasp and remain alive, - that is why it would be impossible, to make eternity from me completely visible for you; but what you and all are able to grasp, there eternity is for the spirit that what time is for the body, only with the sole difference that time consumes everything around it and makes it pass, while eternity does not even let one atom pass.
This time consists and comes into being out of constant movement of all bodily created things; because if these would not move, then they all would like to fall over each other together with time, suns and earths and moons and all living beings muddled up into an endless chaotic lump, which would finally like to ignite through and through, through the endless strong pressure on top of each other and so then also consume itself and completely destroy itself in the end.
But because of conservation, everything from the greatest to the smallest must move in well measured, just distances and even those parts of one connected body must have at least one constant impulse of movement in itself, which enables it to start to move with a removed hindrance, so the constant movements, under the same laws always returning and reciprocal orderly movements, bring about the times, which can be counted. And what this constancy in movement achieves, namely the wear of the parts, which touch each other on the way of movement and through this the either slow or faster passing of things, is the all-consuming time. That is why everything as regard to time is also transitory, because things pass by and others take again their place, and therefore the measure of time is determined by the disappearing and returning of things.
Alone with eternity the opposite is dead straight the case! There every movement is just apparent; but basically the most perfect calmness prevails in all things.
In time things seem to rest, and still the hardest stone moves in all its countless parts, and nothing exists which would have there any rest.
In eternity is again the entire opposite case! There everything seems to move all the time; but nevertheless everything is still in the most undisturbed rest out of me.
But so that you understand such quite clearly, I want to give you a secure and faithful example:
See, when you would like to go from here to that far away fire mountain, there you would have to be soon on your feet and get ahead step by step laboriously, to get there in perhaps two to three days.
But in eternity everyone can save oneself the way, can continuously remain on one and the same point and can make the unbelieving furthest journeys alone with his thoughts of feeling and look at everything accurately with fullest consciousness, while his peculiar person does not move by one hair from its certain place and therefore remains in constant, most sweet rest, - that means looked at from me.
See, but imagine the thing so, as if you sleep on a gentle, soft bed and would have the most beautiful dreams in your sweet sleep, that you would run to and fro and would like to jump and dance out of joy and still in addition would also like to make a far and quick joyride!
See and understand: but with all this movement in the dream, still also the smallest local changeable movement could not be felt at your person!
Therefore eternity is now also like this, also now in the state, which is still incomprehensibly more perfect for you. Because see: As time, destruction, transitoriness and finally death of all things is brought about in and through movement, so eternal preservation, immortality and life, constant, eternal, most perfect, completely similar to me, of all beings, completely similar to me in love and in their living spirit, is caused through rest!
But as I also need to make no journey, to reach from one eternity to another, so also my loved ones with me do not need to be able to have a look at all endless miracles and because of that to personally move everywhere; but they will enjoy true, eternal life like me in eternal rest, although they will never become conscious of this rest, but for it only an eternal, most happy activity, but which is maintained exactly through this actual spiritual personal rest, therefore lasting for ever.
See therefore, my beloved Ghemela, that is eternity, and such is the difference between it and killing time!
What concerns duration, so is this parallel with time. Hence there can be eternities just as well as times; only the duration of eternity is not felt as that of time, because time never brings back what has past, but eternity lastingly preserves even as a most lucid present, that which is unthinkable past for you and has not less the future as already present before it. – Do you understand such?«
And Ghemela replied friendly smiling: »Oh Jehovah, when you want it, and so far as you want it, I understand it through your favour; but it is not yet completely clear to me how one can still move in lasting rest. See, such I would well like to still understand completely, - when it would be your holy will!«
And Abedam said to her: »Such, dear Ghemela, you will never grasp here completely, as long as you still bear a body, - but once completely!
Therefore rather ask for something else, and out of my love towards you I will answer everything! Amen.«

In verse jl.hag1.184,08 it says: And what this constancy in movement achieves, namely the wear of the parts, which touch each other on the way of movement and through this the either slow or faster passing of things, is the all-consuming time.
And this wear, or wear and tear, reminds one of Entropy and the second law of thermodynamics.
But it is particularly interesting with regards to The heating up of the corona of the Sun.
Wear and tear is often connected to friction. The act of walking and driving very much depends on friction. Friction between the sole of the shoe or the tyre of our car and the surface of the material we walk or drive on, allows us to move. This is particularly important when we accelerate. When friction is reduced or comes to zero, when we move on a wet or oily surface or on ice, then moving and especially accelerating becomes difficult or is no longer possible. And friction results in wear. The soles of our shoes wear out and the same happens to our tyres.
And friction in action again causes energy. And when two stones are moved against each other, sparks may fly and cause a fire. And when masses of air of different temperatures move against each other, lightning may result and cause a fire.
Let me quote jl.ev10.159,06:
But the Sun is actually no fire, but that what you see as light is the radiation of its atmospheric surface, which is caused by the revolution of the sun itself again around its axis und even more so by its extraordinary fast move around a middle sun, which is still much further away from it. Through such movements of the Sun in the wide ether space an extraordinary great electric effect is achieved on its atmospheric surface, and its light gleam is therefore in a very heightened degree (the same) as it is the shine of your lightning, only with the difference that the extraordinary development of the lightning on the air surface of the Sun is an uninterrupted one, while the lightning on this Earth only develops here and there through greater friction of the air parts in a very little degree and that is why it always only shines an extremely short time.
So this constancy in movement achieves wear of the parts, which touch each other on the way of movement, and this is part of the nature of time.
Now in verse jl.hag1.184,14 it says: But in eternity everyone can save oneself the way, can continuously remain on one and the same point and can make the unbelieving furthest journeys alone with his thoughts of feeling and look at everything accurately with fullest consciousness, while his peculiar person does not move by one hair from its certain place and therefore remains in constant, most sweet rest, - that means looked at from me.
And here we have very nicely described how real space travel works.
