The probe is shot into space and takes sight of the rock of the size of a small lorry, to pull on a gigantic bag without more ado (15 metres in diameter and ten meters long). When the stone is in the sack, it is to be brought into the orbit of the Moon. Read more:

Here extracts from an article I read today:

Space research

Robot to catch asteroid and shoot it to the Moon

The plans going hunting asteroids close to earth are getting more concrete. Nasa considers to send off a probe which grabs racing rocks with a bag.

It now gets serious. Nasa is now brooding over a crazy sounding feasibility study. The US authority must decide whether it should finance the project, which a group of space engineers has tabled. Their starting question is: How does one snatch an asteroid, which rushes through space with several thousands of kilometres per hour? And their answer is: with a bag.

The experts suggest a robot probe. It is to first hunt an about seven meters measuring, about 500 tons heavy rock, which observatories on Earth have first discovered.

The idea: The probe is shot into space and takes sight of the rock of the size of a small lorry, to pull on a gigantic bag without more ado (15 metres in diameter and ten meters long). When the stone is in the sack, it is to be brought into the orbit of the Moon – because there astronauts could head for it and research it. Because such a rock is difficult to be transported to Earth; it probably would crumble away in the atmosphere like a dry biscuit.
