Spectacular 87 per cent of the federal citizens would vote for the Democrat according to an Emnid poll published on the weekend when they would be allowed to vote in America, on the other hand only five per cent for Romney. Read more:

Here excerpts from an article, which I read today:

US election campaign: How Merkel got rid of a visit by Romney

Get caught all except with the "villain": Because the Germans love US President Obama – and not his challenger Romney – Angela Merkel had to fiddle politely.

Romney’s team had sounded out early in the office of the chancellor whether it could come to a meeting with the federal chancellor. With it he brought Merkel in a delicate situation. Because no other people on earth is still in love with Obama than the Germans.

Spectacular 87 per cent of the federal citizens would vote for the Democrat according to an Emnid poll published on the weekend when they would be allowed to vote in America, on the other hand only five per cent for Romney. While the German press still celebrates Obama as "hero" in the headlines, Romney, actual numbered among to the moderate spectrum of the Republicans, is represented as religious fanatic and heartless multimillionaire.

Merkel herself would certainly have to feign such equidistance. When it is about America the chancellor ticks quite differently than the German public. So Merkel considers for instance the description of Georg W. Bush’s presidency, generally bordering on contempt, not only to be excessive, but to be fundamentally wrong.

She has not only perceived Obama’s Republican predecessor as reliable partner in international negotiations, but also got to know him as interested and enlightened character.

On the other hand Obama has never stopped to irritate her. The political method is too different: While Merkel consciously supresses all expectations to be able to often go small steps if possible in a dispassionately atmosphere, Obama stirs hopes for very big leaps with much pathos – which then often fail to appear.

Also on the youngest G 20 summit in Mexico he affronted her again. Obama gathered there the Europeans around himself and presented a paper, which he had just prepared together with the Italian Mario Monti. Would it go by him, the Euro zone would have solved its problems with printing of money and Euro bonds. Leading Christian democrats therefore firmly believe the Italian-Spanish blackmail of Germany at the youngest EU counsel has been coordinated with Washington.

Romney on the other hand sees the Euro crisis more German. His leading economy adviser R. Glenn Hubbard writes: "The advice of the US government to solve the Euro crisis leads in the wrong direction." To reform and to economize – instead of still pumping more money, so also Merkel could have formulated it.

Only individual Christian Democrats dare to also openly intimate this: "Romney’s strength is his economic competence. At the same time this is Obama’s greatest weakness", said Philipp Mißfelder, the foreign policy speaker of the Union group: "As soon as the USA recovers economically, Germany will profit from it massively through our exports."
