When a reader reads a book today, in a time when a book could be available free in the internet, and he reads it because he bought it, then he reads a commercial product. The author was more interested in financial gain than in really providing something to the reader that helps the reader to advance in life. Read more:

Three days ago we had the subject Spiritual progress – scientific progress and there it was also about scientific progress and that scientific progress will only then be real progress when the existence of the spiritual kingdom is recognized by the scientist who really wants to progress.

But the main subject was spiritual progress and in order to progress spiritually we have to be open and receive from light beings and when we do that then we will pass this knowledge on to fellow men.

Now today I want to have a look at the difference between receiving information from light beings and obtaining insight through intellectually work without engaging the heart.

For this purpose I first want to repeat a section from the entry of three days ago, 2012 Sep Sep 23 (2) – Spiritual progress – scientific progress :

The man who perceives and acts well and noble is different in his entire thinking than a man who spends his life in inconsideration against fellow man and in self-love. The former will pay attention to everything what brings him closer to the divine creator – he will recognize in, around and above him the work of a power, and get in touch with this power, and therefore his attention will be mentally called to the will of God, i.e., he will recognize the divine order and know that only life in divine order will bring the eternal divinity closer to him. And when he has the will to come closer to God then God also comes to meet him, and that in form of knowledge. So always the life according to the will of God will always determine the knowledge of man. Also when man does not consciously strive for divine wisdom, but he will not be able to think otherwise then right, when it is about spiritual things, about things which lie outside of the earthly, which do not affect the body, but its soul and spirit. And he will affirm these thoughts without resistance; he will perceive his thoughts with a certain certainty as corresponding to truth and announce them to his fellow men, because his spirit tells it to him, that he stands in right thinking. And where men come together who are active in love and strive for the good, there the exchange of thoughts will result in complete agreement, and already from this it is evident that they all walk in truth, that the same has been mentally imparted to them and that is why they, with good reason, can call themselves knowing.

So the positive man will announce his thoughts to his fellow men.

He received his thoughts from the spiritual kingdom and he announces them to his fellow men.

He recognizes the existence of the spiritual kingdom and that is why he receives enlightened thoughts and the person who does not recognize the spiritual kingdom operates in darkness and for him this spiritual kingdom is an unenlightened area, an area that is unrecognizable for him in his darkness. For him it does not exist and therefore he does no research work in it.

The positive man announces his thoughts to his fellow man and the negative man does the same but the reason he does it is quite something else. The positive man wants to share his insight and light with as many fellow men as possible and he knows that the more he dishes out the more he is blessed himself, the more he gives away the more he receives out of the spiritual kingdom.

The negative man’s aims are to increase his reputation and standing in the world and to have monetary advantages.

And that is where the idea of intellectual property comes in. The negative man wants that what he has produced remains his property and that other people can see it, but they must pay for it. It is his and his name is attached to it, and that helps with his nimbus and his standing and reputation.

And that is the reason why he copyrights it, why he insists on the law of copyright and wants it established and enforced and kept going.

Now in the old days this was not much of a problem because publications were distributed to the people via publishing houses and that happened in the form of printed books, of words printed on paper. And when one wanted to read such a book he simply bought it and paid for it or the library paid for it and he read it there.

Even if the writer of the book would have liked to make the book available to the reader free of charge, he and the publishing house and the reader and everybody else would accept that the reader would have to pay some money for the book to cover the cost of material and labour and all other things like transport and the cost of the bookstore and the salary of the shop assistant and storage.

But now with the event of the internet all this suddenly changed. Now the author can go the old way via printed paper and line of distribution, including an ebook version, or he can just with a few clicks on his computer publish his work on the internet and it is immediately available to the entire world; and that free of charge to the reader – if he wants.

In the old days, if the author wanted to make his work available to the reader free of charge, and even if he, the author, would pay for all the cost just mentioned, it would be quite difficult to do so, because he would have to develop or use a different way of distribution, a way of distribution that was not arranged according to commercial principles.

So now, with the internet, the reader has a choice to buy a book and read it or he can read a book that is freely available on the internet.

Most of the books which are freely available on the internet are works where the copyright has expired and that even applies to Bibles. An old version of the German Luther Bible might be available and the quite old English King James Version.

Then there are books freely available on the internet where people are more interested in making them available than they are interested in making a monetary profit and that are for instance works coming from Jakob Lorber, Bertha Dudde, Sai Baba, Anthroposophists or Theosophists.

So today every author has the choice. He can go the conventional way and have monetary income or he can make his work available on the internet and let the reader have his product without charge.

Let us take an example. There is a politician or there are two politicians and they belong to a new political party which, among other things, propagates free access to information. Now one of them writes a book and the other also writes a book and both write about the subject of having and of giving free access to information. Now both are relatively well known in their country and can expect that their books will be read by many people.

Now they have to make the decision how to publish their books.

It would obviously be the ideal situation for publishing such a book in the internet and to make it available for free so that everyone can read it and that everyone can read it without having to pay somebody for it.

Now these two ladies, these two politicians, decide to publish their books the conventional way and the reason for this is simply greed.

The publishers offer them an advance, among other things.

Now they try to save their face. One of the ladies tries to get the publisher to agree that a potential buyer is allowed to give an ebook copy of the book to a friend to read. So that there is no copy protection.

Now the author claims to have achieved quite something. It was just a small success, she says, but to get it through was really hard. She had to offer to go without a part of the advance. And this is just an example of the semantics the ladies use to explain how hard they fight for the right to free information.

An observer of the situation contributed the following to the discussion:

I think the statements of the party to the subject copyright of their website speak for themselves and cannot be revised. It is here not about lack of understanding or inflexibility on the part of the critics. It is about fairness and decency.
I ask you once again:
When it is the great concept of the future that artists make their works available free of charge, why then have the ladies chosen the conventional way via the publisher, advance etc.?
Because they are hypocritical and lying.
And because this concept of "free of charge" does not work in a free economy. That the business-minded ladies have recognized very well.

So what does the reader get who reads the book – buys and reads the book? He gets the product of a "hypocritical and lying" lady.

So when the reader reads a book today, in a time when a book could be available free in the internet, and he reads it because he bought it, then he reads a commercial product. The author was more interested in financial gain than in really providing something to the reader that helps the reader to advance in life.

Now this applies to books in general but it applies particularly to Christian books, to books written by so-called Christians. If so-called Christian writers would really want to propagate the Gospel today they could easily do so by publishing their work on the internet and let the reader read it free of charge but their real interest is to make a profit and so they go the old way and that makes their product a commercial one and that makes them the servants of the adversary, see 2012 Jul 08 – Servants of Satan.

If someone really wants to help people then he will offer this help free of charge. Only then is he genuine. Only then is it worth reading his work.

If one reads new books today which are for sale than he most probably is wasting his time. Life is very short and no time should be wasted and therefore just such works should be read which are of high value.

So if an author is genuine then he would say to the publisher, you can publish the book as printed book on paper and as an ebook and I publish it on the internet free of charge to the reader. If you like these conditions you can go ahead, otherwise just leave it.
