Every item of the physical world has at bottom an immaterial source and explanation; that which we call reality arises in the last analysis from the posing of yes - no questions and the registering of equipment-evoked responses; in short, that all things physical are information-theoretic in origin and that this is a participatory universe. Today I read about John Archibald Wheeler (9. July 1911 - 13. April 2008) because I have dealt with parapsychology lately and remembered him as an opponent of considering parapsychology a scientific discipline. What I read surprised me however because he voiced something about the basics of our physical existence that reminded me of Seth and his teaching about this subject.

Wheeler called parapsychology a pseudoscience and that shows him to be opposed to spiritual things and of him being one of the scientists who exclude the spiritual side of life from their work and that again makes his statements about creation all the more interesting.

I have dealt with the teachings of Seth in several webpages of this website, especially in 2012 Feb 18 – Creating physical matter on a subconscious basis.

But let us now, before we carry on discussing Wheeler and Seth, first quote what I read today:

In 1979, Wheeler spoke to the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), asking it to expel parapsychology, which had been admitted ten years earlier at the request of Margaret Mead. He called it a pseudoscience, saying he didn't oppose earnest research into the questions, but he thought the "air of legitimacy" of being an AAAS-Affiliate should be reserved until convincing tests of at least a few so-called psi effects could be demonstrated. His request was turned down, and the Parapsychological Association remained a member of the AAAS.

In 1990, Wheeler suggested that information is fundamental to the physics of the universe. According to this "it from bit" doctrine, all things physical are information-theoretic in origin.

Wheeler: It from bit. Otherwise put, every "it" - every particle, every field of force, even the space-time continuum itself - derives its function, its meaning, its very existence entirely - even if in some contexts indirectly - from the apparatus-elicited answers to yes-or-no questions, binary choices, bits. "It from bit" symbolizes the idea that every item of the physical world has at bottom - a very deep bottom, in most instances - an immaterial source and explanation; that which we call reality arises in the last analysis from the posing of yes - no questions and the registering of equipment-evoked responses; in short, that all things physical are information-theoretic in origin and that this is a participatory universe.

Wheeler was awarded the Wolf Prize in Physics in 1997.

Wheeler has speculated that reality is created by observers in the universe. "How does something arise from nothing?", he asks about the existence of space and time (Princeton Physics News, 2006). He also coined the term "Participatory Anthropic Principle" (PAP), a version of a Strong Anthropic Principle. From a transcript of a radio interview on "The anthropic universe":

Wheeler: We are participators in bringing into being not only the near and here but the far away and long ago. We are in this sense, participators in bringing about something of the universe in the distant past and if we have one explanation for what's happening in the distant past why should we need more?
Martin Redfern: Many don't agree with John Wheeler, but if he's right then we and presumably other conscious observers throughout the universe, are the creators - or at least the minds that make the universe manifest.

So that was what I read today about John Wheeler and now some comments.

Margaret Mead was mentioned above. She cofounded the Parapsychological Association, a group advocating for the advancement of parapsychology and psychic research.

But the main point I want to make here is this position of a major scientist regarding the physics that are very much discussed at the moment, that he apparently thinks, that, according to quantum mechanics, not only does the observation of a measurement influence the measurement, but that the observing scientist influences the existence of what he measures, even creates the things he measures.

Now at the moment it looks as if the world of the physicists undergoes a major change and that they might throw a couple of things overboard, like the big bang, and the Standard Model, and the Higgs boson and the idea in astrophysics that the sun is producing its heat from its interior.

Now this will not mean that these things will disappear. As we are in reality dealing with religious people when we deal with scientists, there will remain plenty of them, probably the majority of them, religiously committed to them and carry on believing in them the same way as most of them still believe in evolution and propagate it and fight for it at every opportunity.

Seth describes this development this way: “Not only that, it is simply a fact that your scientists will indeed discover, and no misty, magical superstition, that consciousness, of itself and because of its nature, forms physical matter. Because I once inhabited physical matter, as you all do know, does not mean that I am now some esoteric, occult creature of dim spiritualistic rather doubtful origins, who managed to invade gullible and neurotic consciousness.”

One webpage where I dealt with Seth was 2012 Mar 04 – From spirit to matter and there are also other webpages listed where Seth material is mentioned.

The webpage that deals with our subject is 2012 Feb 18 – Creating physical matter on a subconscious basis and there it says: “We create physical matter on a subconscious basis, without knowing egotistically that we do so. We create physical matter as effortlessly and as smoothly and as automatically, and as unknowingly as we create our own dreams.”

Seht seems to have predicted this development of the world of the physicists. He said: “Why do you find the phrase solidified feeling outlandish? You both already understand that your plane is really composed of solidified thought. When your scientists get through with all their high fiddle-faddle they too will discover that this is the case, though woe to any one of them that dares breathe such a concept yet.” So the time might have arrived when the scientists get through with all their high fiddle-faddle and when they too will discover what is really going on.

Also have a look at the following webpages:

And now still one prediction from Seth to what will then happen next, therefore after they discover what follows, when they are finshed with their fiddle-faddle:

“When the physical origin of your universe is finally discovered, your scientist will be no better off than they are now. They will immediately be up against the problem that above all others they have avoided for so long, that of the origin behind the origin. The simple fact needs restating. The physical universe, and everything in it, is the result of consciousness. It did not evolve consciousness. To the contrary, consciousness not only created the physical universe, but continues to do so.”
