The priest from Salzgitter arrested for abuse came already 2006 into the sight of the diocese because he had spent the night in one bed together with a boy. That was the “behaviour without distance” which was mentioned in the first explanations of the diocese.
After a protest of the family a contact ban was impose on the minister, which he has broken a few weeks ago, confirmed the diocese on Wednesday. As a result the diocese again reminded him of the contact ban. Neither at that time nor now was the talk about sexual abuse, emphasized the diocese spokesperson.
For five years the minister has followed the clear announcement of the church. In the meantime he has confessed the abuse of three boys.
When the same family last year in the course of the abuse scandal reported it again because of spending the night in one bed together, the diocese submitted the case to the prosecution authorities. But they could not recognise punishable action and discontinued the inquiry. As a spokeswoman of the Hildesheim prosecution authority announced on Wednesday the diocese has submitted the circumstances anonymously without mentioning the name of the priest.
In the meantime Suffragan Bishop Heinz-Günter Bongartz wants to lead the service this Sunday in the shaken St. Joseph parish in Salzgitter. Subsequently he wants to have a discussion with the parishioners, informed the diocese. Bongartz had already come together with the parish elders on Tuesday evening for a discussion.
